Another Filipina by the name Danica Flores Magpantay brought honor to the Philippines by winning the Ford Super model of the World 2011 winner. A Fine Arts student, Danica is a 17 year old Filipina who took the challenge of joining this known and prestigious modelling contest. Danica’s courage and patience paid off as she won the pageant. Ford Super model of the Year contest was held in New York City organized by the Eileen Ford Modeling Agency.

Danica won a $250,000 modeling contract from Ford Models. Danica is a Fine Arts student major in Visual Communication at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. Danica is the youngest and the first Filipina winner in the prestigious model search. First runner-up was Lithuania and second runner-up was Poland. Brazil and Estonia rounded up the Top 5.

Danica Magpantay won the Supermodel Philippines title in October last year during the 2010 Philippine Fashion Week Spring-Summer show series. In addition, in 2009, Filipina Chat Almarvez placed first runner-up in the International Ford Models’ Supermodel of the World contest held in Brazil.

Ford Supermodel of the World, formerly known as “Face of the 80′s” is a distinguished contest established by Ellen Ford.

Danica Flores Magpantay, a Fine Arts student at the University of the Philippines (UP), is the first Filipina to win as Supermodel of the World. The Philippines is the second Asian country to win the title, next to South Korea. Magpantay is the daughter of registered nurse Pogs Magpantay and professional make-up artist, Milagros ‘Lala’ Flores, a Supermodel titleholder in the Philippines 20 years ago. The 5’9″ Filipina won a US$250,000 contract from the Eileen Ford Modeling Agency, reportedly the fashion industry’s biggest prize for a model search. According to Magpantay, her biggest dream is to become one of Victoria’s Secret top models.
